Spartanburg’s mountain biking trail offers stump jumpers plenty of air-catching thrills. And this rock-’em, sock-’em ride is right in the middle of town. The six miles of single-track trails wind their way through the woods in the heart of Duncan Park, home to the oldest minor league stadium in the country. Described as a ski area for mountain bikers, the buttery smooth trails feature jumps, the pump turns and those adrenaline-inducing whoop-de-dos. With few steep ascents, young cyclists or beginners can get in on the backwoods fun, too. Daredevils will enjoy the technical challenges and big, sweeping hills where you can pick up speed like a downhill racer. Although the trails were designed by the Upstate Southern Off-road Bicycle Association, hikers, runners, and dog walkers are welcome to use them.
